House Speaker denies that an Israeli delegation visited Parliament on Monday

Ammon News - AMMAN - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Al Srour denied that an Israeli delegation visited the House on Monday.

Al Srour statement was made during the House's debate of the 2013 state budget law.

He said: "who wrote the report and the media outlets that published it have not sought the truth and accuracy," pointing out that a visit was made to the House by former Arab member of the Israeli Knesset Talab Al Sani' accompanied by a number of mayors of Palestinian cities and towns, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

"If I had the chance to meet this Arab delegation in my office, it would have been an honor for me, but I feel sorry for what the media outlets have reported, because it is not acceptable to fabricate a story about the Lower House and the government," Al Srour added.

He noted that Palestinian Arab cities and towns will remain engraved in our minds and hearts, reiterating that this delegation is hosted by the Prime Minister.

Earlier on Monday, local media outlets, including Ammon News reported that an Arab Israeli delegation on Monday attended part of the Lower House's debate of the 2013 temporary state budget law in the capital Amman.

The delegation included former Israeli Knesset Talab al-Sana', the longest serving Arab Member of the Knesset until he was lost his seat in 2013, and 6 other members of the Israeli Arab Democratic Party.

The unofficial visit was reportedly coordinated by former member of Jordan's Parliament Hamada Fara'neh, who insisted that the delegation consists of current members of the Knesset.

Meanwhile, members of the delegation stressed to the press that they are members of the Arab Democratic political party.

Several media outlets reported that current members of the Israeli Knesset were among the delegation, a fact denied by the House Speaker.

The delegation met with Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour and expressed their appreciation of King Abdullah's efforts to support and defend Jerusalem in accordance with the special agreement to defend Jerusalem and its holy sites recently signed by King Abdullah II and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.
