King, German Chancellor discuss ties, Mideast issues

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received a telephone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, during which they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields and issues of mutual interest.

They also discussed the overall developments in the Middle East, especially efforts to push the peace process forward to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

With regard to the Syrian issue, King Abdullah stressed Jordan's support for a political and transitional solution to the Syrian crisis to put an end to violence and bloodshed and preserve the unity of Syria's land and people.

Merkel stressed Germany's support for Jordan in its efforts to host Syrian refugees, expressing appreciation of His Majesty the King's tireless efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in the Middle East.
