Preparations for Jerash Festival conclude

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) — Preparations for the 28th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts have concluded, according to the festival’s executive director, Mohammad Abu Summaqa.
Around 200 poets and singers, as well as local, Arab and foreign folk troupes will participate in the June 26-July 7 event, he said on Wednesday.
The festival will feature concerts, poetry recitals and theatrical performances, and is scheduled to host well-known Arab singers such as Iraqi artist Kadim Al Saher and Lebanese artists Nancy Ajram, Najwa Karam and Assi El Helani.
Jordanian singers Diana Karazon, Ayman Tayseer and Suheir Odeh are also scheduled to perform at the event, he said.
Abu Summaqa noted that poetry will be given special prominence this year with the participation of major Arab poets such as Abdul Razzaq Abdul Wahid from Iraq and Ahmed Fouad Negm from Egypt.
The Jerash Festival will also include a handicraft market, he noted.
