Australia now ranks second place in Asia's Group B on 10 points. Winning against Iraq next week in Sydney would qualify them for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
Jordan, now stands at seven points, needing a home victory over third-placed Oman in their final qualifier and for other results to go their way to keep their hopes of a maiden World Cup appearance alive.
The Socceroos led 1-0 in the first half before scoring a hat-trick in the second, lifting them into second place in group B with 10 points. The Nashama were left in fourth place with seven points after Oman, which has 9 points, and Iraq, in fifth place with 5 points.
The Australians, who dominated much of the play despite two solid opportunities for Nashama, scored via Mark Bresciano, Tim Cahill, Robbie Kruse and Lucas Neill, Jordan news agency Petra reported.
