Number of visitors to Petra rise in May

Ammon News - PETRA (Petra)--The number of visitors to the ancient city of Petra jumped by 3 percent in May, compared to the same period last year, according to officials at the Petra Archaeological Park.

A total of 54,717 visitors, including 45,739 foreigners, 8,696 Jordanians and 282 foreign guests and students visited the Nabataean city in May.

The site's tourism revenues also rose by 7 percent in May, compared with the same month last year, now reaching JD995,000, noted officials.
