Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Minister of Political Development and Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad Al Momani said the government is paying great attention to the ongoing incidents in Maan and works with all security agencies to impose security and apply the law, stressing that the situation in the city is secure and stable.
During his meeting with the press at the Prime Ministry on Tuesday, Al Momani added that Maan has an ancient history in the Jordanian memory as the city that received the Great Arab Revolt, noting that what is happening in the city can happen in any place in the world.
He pointed out that 12 people, who were involved in the recent incidents, were turned to the judiciary and anyone found to be involved will be held responsible after the completion of investigations.
On the issue of blocking unlicensed news websites, the minister affirmed the government's commitment towards freedom of the press, noting that the government's step is an implementation of the press and publications law and to protect the "fourth power" from intruders, pointing out the government's readiness to review legislations regulating the press. On the energy issue, Al Momani said that the government has presented the lower house with economic facts, issues related to Jordan's economy and the state's budget, noting that more meetings will be held later for this purpose.
The minister said Jordan is exerting constant efforts regarding Jordanian detainees in Iraq, pointing out that these efforts are in their final stages.
Furthermore, Al Momani stressed that the issue of Jordanian prisoners in Israel receives daily follow up by the Kingdom's ambassador in Tel Aviv, because it is a main part of the ambassador's daily work to shorten their terms of imprisonment.
