Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra)--Minister of Interior and Minister of Municipal Affairs Hussein Majali met with a US delegation led by the Chairman of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Thomas Hale, to discuss boosting Jordanian-US ties, as well as addressing security, political and economic repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

Majali said the government is continuing the process of providing educational, health and security services to Syrian refugees, stemming from its humanitarian duties, adding that the continuous flow of refugees to Jordan on a daily basis is placing pressure on the educational, health and infrastructure sectors, in addition to the labour market.

Jordan, he added, cannot continue to shoulder the burden of hosting the refugees without the help of the international community.

The minister also highlighted the importance of the Jordanian-US partnership and the need to boost it in the political and economic fields in the interest of both countries.

He also praised US support to Jordan in implementing reform programs and development projects.

Additionally, members of the US delegation voiced their country's support for Jordan's efforts to achieve political and economic reforms.

They also appreciated the Kingdom's role in hosting Syrian refugees, despite the economic hardships facing the country.

The two sides agreed to maintain cooperation and coordination on issues of common interest.
