Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh, on Tuesday, met with a number of Muslim members of Britain's House of Lords and House of Commons and discussed with them bilateral relations, latest developments in the region and issues of common concern.

Judeh highlighted Jordan's role led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to clarify the true image of Islam and referred to initiatives launched by the King in this context, especially the "Amman Message" and "A Common Word" and others which reflect the true values of Islam of tolerance and coexistence with the followers of different religions and cultures.

The minister stressed that Jordan will continue to work with everyone to promote dialogue between the East and West, and build bridges of understanding and dialogue between different cultures, peoples and religions.

The meeting also dealt with Jordan's reform drive in various political, economic and social fields in addition to achievements made in this regard.

Judeh and the British lawmakers tackled efforts to achieve peace and stressed the importance of re-launching serious and effective negotiations to bring about an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting focused on Syria where Judeh reiterated the call for a political solution to ensure the safety and security of Syria and its territorial integrity with the participation of all components of the Syrian people.

They reviewed burdens borne by Jordan due to hosting an influx of more than 540,000 Syrian refugees, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibility in helping Jordan to continue providing humanitarian services to them.

The British parliamentarians stressed the importance of the role played by His Majesty King Abdullah II to clarify the true image of Islam and changing stereotypes.

They hailed Jordan's pivotal role in seeking security, stability and peace in the region, expressing Britain's keenness to support Jordan's efforts in this aspect and continue coordination and consultation.
