Ammon News - RAMALLAH (Petra)--The Islamic-Christian Commission in Support of Jerusalem and the Holy Sites has warned of an Israeli plan to demolish 450 Palestinian houses in occupied Jerusalem.
The commission said, in a statement, that the Israeli occupation forces have demolished 25,000 homes in the Palestinian territories since 1967, including 40 in occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of 2013. "This led to the displacement of 300 Jerusalemites, including 200 children, the statement added.
The commission said the main objective of Israel is to empty Jerusalem of its Arab inhabitants and attract Jewish settlers to obliterate the Arab identity of the city.
Secretary General of the commission Hanna Issa said house demolitions are part of a collective punishment that began under various pretexts when Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967, adding that home demolitions violate Article 53 of the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention.
