Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Higher Steering Committee for Syrian Refugees Affairs to discuss the ongoing exodus of displaced Syrians into Jordan.
Ensour stressed the importance of close coordination among all concerned agencies, urging authorities to take all necessary measures to "manage the refugee file with high efficiency, striking a balance between humanitarian services and protecting the national interest". The prime minister updated the panel on government efforts to rally world support for the Kingdom as it struggles to cope with the growing burdens on various sectors as a result of the daily refugee influx due to the deteriorating security conditions in Syria.
During the meeting, the higher committee took note of a recent Lower House debate of the security, political and social ramifications of the Syrian crisis on the Kingdom. It said the government is working with all security agencies and parliament to achieve the higher national interest.
