Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Hundreds of Jordanians on Wednesday marked the 65th anniversary of the Palestinian "Nakba," the catastrophe of Palestinian displacement upon the establishment of the Israeli entity in 1948.
The demonstrators gathered in front of the United Nations building in Amman, chanting slogans denouncing Israel and what they considered continued violations and aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Protesters stressed Palestinians' right of return, and denounced the 1994 Wadi Araba peace treaty between Jordan and Israel and the Oslo Accords, blasting the historic events for not guaranteeing Palestinian rights.
They described the struggle with the "Zionist entity" as a "struggle for existence rather than a struggle over borders."
Demonstrators stressed the brotherly relations between the Jordanian and Palestinian people and their common objective in defending Palestinian right for self determination.
The event also witnessed calls for Jordanians and Palestinians to be aware of the "alternative homeland" scheme, warning that Israel is laying the groundwork to settle the Arab-Israeli crisis at Jordan's expense.
Demonstrations took place in various countries throughout the world on Wednesday marking the 65th Anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, including major cities in the West Bank, Gaza, and occupied Jerusalem.
