King receives Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung delegation

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday met with a delegation from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (a German political foundation) and discussed with them German-Jordanian ties and Middle East developments namely Syria and peacemaking efforts.
King Abdullah stressed Jordan's keenness to deepen and activate relations with the countries of the European Union, especially Germany, valuing aid provided to Jordan in various fields.
His Majesty also highlighted Jordan's reform drive which aims at consolidating democracy and promoting the process of construction, development and modernization, referring to the parliamentary elections which took place in the Kingdom with full fairness and transparency as well as Jordan's approach towards formation of parliamentary governments.
On Syria, the King outlined the massive burdens borne by Jordan due to hosting increasing numbers of Syrian refugees, and pressures they put on the Kingdom's limited resources, which requires the international community to assume its responsibilities to enable the Kingdom to play its humanitarian role in this regard.
The meeting also dealt with efforts to achieve peace in the region based on the two-state solution which is the only way to bring about peace and security in the region.
Head of the delegation, Hans-Gert Poettering, hailed King Abdullah II's efforts to achieve peace and strengthen security and stability in the region and a better future for its people.
The members of the team stressed the need to continue meeting with King Abdullah II and Jordanian officials to strengthen Jordanian-European relations, and follow-up of the two-state solution, stressing that the Palestinian issue and efforts to achieve peace must remain at the top of the international agenda.
