Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - That Ras football team on Friday won the 33rd Jordan Cup Final after defeating Ramtha 2-1.
The local team That Ras, from the southern governorate of Karak, qualified to the finals of the Jordan Cup "Al Manaseer" for the first time. Ramtha had previously won the cup over 20 years ago, in 1990 and 1991.
On its way to the finals, Ramtha managed to eliminate its rivals Wehdat and Shabab Al Urdun, whereas newcomer That Ras eliminated Faisali, the 17-time winners of the Jordan Cup, after Leg 1.
That Ras scored its first goal early on in the match, with Sharif Nawayseh scoring in the 3rd minute into the match. The winners scored their second goal in the second half, with Ramtha following them with their sole goal.
That Ras won the Jordan Cup and JD 45,000, while runner up Ramtha receives JD 25,000.
That Ras football team received a champions welcome upon their return to Karak Friday night after the match, carrying the Jordan Cup to the southern city for the first time.
Hundreds of local young fans took to the streets cheering the That Ras champions, who drove through the streets of Karak city to greet their fans.
