FM heads to Russia to address Syrian crisis

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh will head to Moscow on an official visit on Thursday to discuss the suggestion of holding an international conference over the escalating crisis in Syria.

Judeh will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, a Jordanian diplomatic source told Russian media.

On Wednesday, Judeh met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome, following Russia and the US's announcement of new diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the escalating violence in Syria.

Russia and the United States agreed to push jointly for a new transitional government in Syria, and will convene an international conference to address the Syrian crisis in the coming weeks.

The Jordanian diplomatic source in Moscow said that the conference is expected to be held in Jordan.
