Ammon News - By Majed al-Dabbas

AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) on Sunday denied that Syrian pilots defected and landed a military jet on Jordanian territories.

A senior Jordanian military official said that the conditions on the Jordanian-Syrian border remain the same as in previous days.

He refuted media reports that Syrian pilots defected and landed a Syrian military jet in the northern border town of Ramtha.

The Jordanian daily newspaper, Al Ghad, had reported today that a Syrian fighter jet landed Sunday afternoon in Ramtha, flown by two Syrian pilots, reported to be colonels in the Syrian military who defected from the Syrian border town of Dara'a.

Al Ghad reported that the two pilots defected from the Syrian military forces.

Several Syrian military personnel had defected in the past two years and sought asylum in Jordan.

Last June, a Syrian pilot, Colonel Hassan Hamada, defected and landed a MiG-21 fighter jet in a Jordanian airbase, and was granted asylum here.
