Police use tear gas to deter attack on Karak polling station

AMMONNEWS - Gendarmerie forces on Wednesday resorted to firing tear gas at crowds of young men who attempted to storm into a voting station dedicated for women only in Karak's sixth constituency, 'Ayy district.

Clashes erupted between the crowds and security forces, with the latter resorting to fire tear gas to prevent the men from entering the voting station.

Gendarmerie forces also managed to deter an attack on a polling station in Southern Mazar district (13 km south of Karak, southern Jordan).

Individuals attempted to storm into the polling station and seize ballot boxes in a polling station in Al-Husseiniyyah in Southern Mazar before gendamerie forces intervened to disperse them.
