Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) A 37 year old man from the city of Salt died on Sunday after contracting the H1N1 Swine Flu virus, Ammon News learned.
The man's death became the second reported case of H1N1 Virus-related fatality this winter.
Also on Sunday, a 26-year-old man with heart and lung diseases died in the northern city of Irbid after contracting the H1N1 swine flu virus, Minister of Health Abdullatif Wreikat announced.
He said the patient was admitted to the Princess Basma Hospital suffering from acute pneumonia three days ago and lab and clinical tests later revealed he was infected with the H1N1 virus and had undergone "the necessary" protective and treatment procedures.
Wreikat said the flu infection had complicated multiple diseases the patient had, mainly a hole in the ventricles and pulmonary edema, and led to his death.
Today's death was the first H1N1 fatality in the country where health authorities earlier announced that 49 such cases had been recorded nationwide, but assured the public the outbreak is not serious.
