Ammon News - By Mohammed Abo Hmaed

AMMONNEWS - The pan-Islamic Hizb-ut-Tahrir movement held a protest on Friday in front of the Syrian Embassy in Amman voicing their support of the Syrian people and rejection of foreign intervention in the Syrian conflict.

Hundreds of movement supporters demonstrated during Friday mid-day prayer, stressing the role of Muslims to struggle to regain their rights and freedoms in accordance with Islamic precepts.

Speakers at the rally rejected foreign intervention in the Syrian conflict, blasting the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar al-Ibrahimi's initiative as 'treason.'

Speakers warned against Arab leaders who "pretend" to side with the Syrian revolution, according to their expression, and warned against foreign media outlets that broadcasts in Arabic, considering them agents of Western powers.

The movement stressed that it will continue to work on its agenda to establish an Islamic caliphate.

Sheikh Thab Khawaja gave the Friday prayer sermon during the rally, attended by Syrian nationals in Jordan and a number of political party leaders and activists from pro-reform youth and populist movements.

The protesters performed a prayer for the souls of Syrian innocent civilians that have died at the hands of the Syrian regime.
