Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Dozens of pro-reform activists and popular movements for reform staged a sit-in on Tuesday in front of Jwaideh prison, south of Amman, to solidarity with the political detainees who were arrested during and after the protests and riots erupted in Jordan last month.

Participants called for the release of detainees and to all charges against them, carrying a banner stating "freedom for the prisoners".

Jordanian authorities arrested over 150 people during the recent wave of protests and riots that erupted in mid November in reaction to the government's decision to lift subsidies on fuel derivatives, which led to a major hike in prices.

The State Security Court announced releasing over 90 of the detainees, while keeping the detention of around 15 people pending investigation into their participation in vandalism and attacks on public and private property during the riots.

SSC announced on Tuesday the release of 10 other detainees who were arrested during the protests.
