Ammon News - Amman, (Petra) - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Jaafar Hassan, on Sunday met with an international delegation and discussed a number of Syrian refugee-related issues in Jordan.

This came During a meeting with European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva, UN High Commissioner Refugees Antonio Guterres.

The meeting tackled economic challenges facing Jordan and the additional burden borne by the Kingdom due to hosting Syrian refugees, and the aspired for international role in providing support and assistance to Jordan cope with the prevailing economic conditions.

Guterres stressed the importance of offering further support for Jordan and providing the necessary resources for the Kingdom in this difficult stage to help it cope with the economic and financial challenges. He expressed readiness to appeal to donors to provide the required support.

Georgieva hailed Jordan for receiving an influx of refugees Syrians and providing services to them despite economic challenges, indicating that the European Union is in the process of increasing support for host countries in the coming days.
