Ammon News - MAFRAQ (Petra) The emergency ward at the Mafraq Government Hospital on Sunday received seven Syrians who were seriously wounded in fierce clashes with Syrian government forces near the Jordanian border.

The hospital's director Dr. Hmoud Al Sarhan said Jordanian security forces offered help and first aid to the injured before moving them to the hospital where they were listed in a critical condition.

He said two of the injured were admitted to the intensive care unit while five with very serious wounds were transferred to the Islamic Hospital in Amman due to a lack of facilities to deal with their condition.

Heavy clashes between government forces and rebels were reported near the border area last night as the sound of explosions and gunfire could be heard from villages on the other side of the frontier.
