Ammon News - Amman, (Petra) - A delegation from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) on Tuesday visited the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and had a first-hand-look at the Jordanian experience in the field of higher education.
The ministry's Secretary General Mustafa Odwan hailed the KFAED's initiatives to support the Jordanian sector of higher education, pointing that the ministry gives major attention to the infrastructure of the official universities and supports the needy outstanding students through scholarships, grants and loans.
"The volume of expenditure on supporting students with scholarships, grants and loans this year exceeded JD20 million, benefiting more than 28,000 students" he said, adding that the ministry is willing to support at least 30,000 students next year and that this requires an additional JD25 million.
Head of the delegation Mohammad Sadqi said that the fund is willing to provide the needed support for all the developmental sectors in the Kingdom, including high education.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with means of boosting bilateral cooperation to support future programs.
