Interior minister, UN official discuss services to Syrian refugees

Ammon News - Amman, (Petra)--Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Awad Khleifat on Tuesday met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos, who is currently on a visit to the Kingdom to check on conditions of Syrian refugees.
The minister highlighted the need to boost cooperation and coordination between Jordan and international organizations in humanitarian fields.
Khleifat hailed the historical role of the UN in providing aid and basic services to refugees at all times.
He said Jordan is providing services to the Syrian refugees as it is a humanitarian duty, pointing to the economic burden and pressure they place on the Kingdom's limited resources.
The minister highlighted the need to support Jordan to enable it to continues its services to the displaced Syrians. Khliefat outlined services offered by the Kingdom to the refugees, adding that Jordan, which witnessed waves of refugees in the past, did not spare an efforts to assist those refugees.
The UN official valued Jordan's role in hosting Syrian refugees despite its economic hardships and called for supporting the Kingdom to enable it to continue its services to the refugees.
