Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The State Security Court (SSC) issues charges against a member of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) political parties, that includes anti-regime and instigation to unlawful assembly charges.
SSC, Jordan's military tribunal, issued charges against IAF Shura (Consultation) Council member Emad Abu Hattab, after he was arrested Saturday evening while he was returning home from work.
SSC officials ordered Abu Hattab detained in al-Hashemiyyah prison in Zarqa for 14 days pending investigation into the charges.
Meanwhile, IAF leader Ali Abu Sukkar denounced the arrest, and considered the actions of security agencies in targeting and arresting political activists as a means "to terrorize and scare popular activism," Al-Sabeel daily reported.
Abu Sukkar blasted the government's actions against political and pro-reform activists, expressing that "it reflects the government's dishonesty in its statements regarding 'soft' handling popular opposition."
The Islamist leader charged that detained political activists witness torture, beatings, and insults, and called for the immediate release of Abu Hattab and the remaining 'political detainees.'
