AMMONNEWS - Dozens of Families and activists from youth and popular pro-reform movements held a sit in on Saturday in front of the Prime Ministry office demanding the release of 'opinion' political detainees, according to their expression.
According to police, men in their 20s and 30s were arrested and detained over the riots which erupted two weeks ago across the kingdom in protest of the government's decision to lift subsidies on fuel derivatives and cooking gas earlier this month.
Military prosecutor has charged 89 activists with inciting violent revolt, after protests, that left one person dead and 75 others, including 58 policemen, injured.
While 30 have been released for lack of evidence, the remaining 39 are still being questioned, he says. The 89 who have been charged face up to 15 years in jail.
