Jordanians on Facebook and Twitter posted pictures and video of the man, draped in traditional Jordanian clothing, not moving despite the chaos of clashes between riot police and protesters near al-Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman.

In the video, the man, wearing a traditional 'Abaya' robe remains standing next to a pole observing the scene as gendarmerie forces work to disperse protesters during the latest wave of protests and riots that erupted in the kingdom in reaction to the government's decision to float fuel prices, which led to a major hike in prices.

The man is seen standing despite the rocks being hurled around him, and even when one actually hits him.

The photos and video stirred numerous comments and posts from Jordanians wondering about the identity of "mystery man."
