Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Rest Upon the Wind - Khalil Gibran A play was insipred by the life and times of Khalil Gibran, one of the best-selling poets in the world and author of 'The Prophet'.

The play, which is written by acclaimed Jordanian actor and playwright Nadim Sawalha, shows sides from his struggling professional career, as Gibran faced a number of issues trying to deliver a message of love and peace to the rest of the world, as he did in ‘The Prophet’. Additionally, it highlights some of Gibran’s personal life issues; including stories about people, whom he loved; such as his sister Miryanna, his guardian angel, Mary and his eccentric mentor, Fred; in addition to those who tried to destroy his career; his businessman neighbor, Marzoo, and his secret lover, Micheline.

On the occasion of writing this play, Mr. Nadim Sawalha, Jordanian actor and playwright, said: “Gibran Khalil Gibran had quite a journey in his life and he is surely an aspiration to all young talented writers, painters and artists of all forms who are struggling in their career.”

Mr. Nabil Sawalha, the international renowned Jordanian actor, stated his enthusiasm about participating in the play, by playing two different characters that had impact in the life of Gibran Khalil Gibran. Mr. Sawalha also added that the play will give an opportunity to the whole world to know the creativity of Gibran Khalil Gibran as an author and an artist who has provided a lot for Art during his career.

From her end, Ms. Sarah Abu Alia, the General Manager of ArtMedium commenting on bringing the play to Amman: “Since the establishment of ArtMedium, we have been organizing a number of artistic events that would be of interest to art lovers. Bringing this play to Amman, confirms our commitment towards Art and Jordanians, who appreciate it. We are delighted that Amman is the first city in the Arab World to host this play.”

The play has an international cast and crew that is led by the award winning director Tanushka Marah, who will be performing in Amman, accompanied by the Jordanian actor Nabil Sawalha and highlighted by the original sound-score from award winning composer Jules Deering. This production would boast stunning visuals, live music and electric performances from all 8 cast members, making it as an unforgettable experience for the attendees who would relive the life of Gibran Khalil Gibran for the two hours of the play.
