Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - About 150 workers of a logistical services company in Aqaba went on open strike on Monday, blocking a main highway in southern Jordan and causing a major traffic jam in an attempt to shed light on their labor demands.
The workers of Nafith Company for Logistical Services, operating the Aqaba port, protested the company's delay in responding to their demands, which include better work conditions, compensation for rent, high-risk compensation, and over-time bonuses, the laborers told Ammon News.
The protesters blocked the main Wadi Al Yetm highway, causing a major traffic jam with dozens of trucks and trailers parked on the side of the highway unable to pass.
The laborers said that they gave the company an ultimatium of 28 days before embarking on an open strike, and got no response from the company.
