Ex-Chief of Retired Military Assn Detained over Graft Charges

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Amman Public Prosecutor on Tuesday ordered the arrest and detention of a former chief of the Retired Military Personnel's Association over charges of embezzlement and abuse of public office.

A judicial source told Ammon News that Retired Major General Muhammad Abed Abbadi was ordered detained for 15 days pending investigation by the Accounting Bureau into charges of embezzlement and abuse of public office while Abbadi was heading the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans.

The Public Prosecutor ordered Abbadi's detention after reviewing the records from the Accounting Bureau sent to the Ministry of Finance.

Ammon News learned that the Abbadi was arrested along with several other former officials that were not identified by the source.
