Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - To support the people of Jordan at a time of uncertainty in the region, and to highlight the increasing importance of vocational training in the fields of digital journalism and game design, Mr Ziad Al Manaseer is funding twenty partial-scholarships in the newest majors at SAE Institute Amman.
The two new majors being offered are a One Year International Diploma in Digital Journalism and a One Year International Diploma in Game Design (which is co-sponsored by INTAJ). Both diploma programs start on 8 January 2012. There are ten part-scholarships available for each major. The scholarships are up to 50% of tuition fees, and students may qualify for finance on the remaining balance.
Applications are open to Jordanians, Palestinians, and people of other nationalities who are permanently and legally resident in Jordan.
Mr. Ziad Al Manaseer believes Digital Journalism will be increasingly important worldwide, but even moreso in the Middle East as governments in the region liberalise the media sector and engage with youth.
INTAJ recognizes the enormous strength of the Game Design industry worldwide and the huge growth potential and employment opportunities it can bring to Jordan.
Digital Journalism offers students a study of basic journalism practice, workflow, and the technical knowledge needed in digital photography, camera operation, film editing, image editing, audio recording and editing, authoring, podcasting and blogging, giving students thorough knowledge of a broad range of multimedia- and online production-related issues.
Game Design is the art of creating console, mobile and online games. Gaming is now a worldwide industry worth several billion dollars annually, providing high-paying employment opportunities for new graduates. More than 300 million computer and video games are sold in the United States each year, while popular companies such as Zynga attract more than 230 million players every month to their games on Facebook. With a youthful population of more than 300 million Arabic speakers in the Middle East this industry is set to boom.
SAE Institute Amman is one of more than 50 SAE campuses in 22 countries. Founded in Australia in 1976, it has more than 10,000 students worldwide studying diploma to degree programs in Film & TV Production, Audio Engineering, Animation, Digital Journalism, Multimedia and Game Design.
