24-01-2009 03:50 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday said the humanitarian situations in the Gaza Strip have deteriorated to unacceptable levels due to the Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave which calls for an immediate international stand to force Israel stop its assault and open the border crossings to allow medical and humanitarian aid into Gaza and evacuate the wounded.

The Monarch, during a phone call with the International Quartet envoy to the Middle East Tony Blair, stressed the necessity of an international action to end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and save the region from the percussions of the Israeli attacks which will not bring security to Israel.

The Monarch added that Israel must realize that the only way for its security is achieved through giving the Palestinians their legitimate rights, particularly in having their own independent and viable state on their national soil.

The two sides also discussed the Arab and international diplomatic efforts aimed at putting an end to the Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for the Communications and Media Affairs Nasser Judeh said Jordan will continue to make every possible effort with Arab and international communities and will intensify its contacts and consultations in order to achieve an immediate end of the Israeli military operations, as the situation have become very serious.

He added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Salah Bashir Saturday night summoned the ambassadors of the five permanent members for an urgent, during which Bashir reiterated the Kingdom's strong condemnation to the Israeli escalations, calling for the international community to intervene to stop the tragedy.

"We can not keep silent on this tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the killing of innocent civilians and the increase in the number of martyrs and the wounded," Judeh said.
