Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The number of Twitter followers of now-former Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) have noticeably multiplied in the past 24 hours.
Sharif Faris Sharaf had nearly 350 followers on his twitter account on Monday, only to grow to over 1,300 following the news of his oustered-resignation from his position in a case that stirred Jordanian public opinion.
Sharaf noted the case twice since his "removal," first a note of thanks to friends for all the support, noting "wil explain in due time."
Later on Tuesday, he posted on his Twitter Account "The PM has spoken. Now it's my turn to speak the truth!."
Sharaf later held a conference with a group of journalists in his father's house, the late Abdul Hamid Sharaf, in which he denied Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit's blasts against him that he makes "unilateral decisions" and criticized the Prime Minister's label of "liberal" against him.
Hundreds of Tweets handled the "Sharaf Gate" in the past 24 hours, with many speculating the reasons behind the abrupt decision to oust Sharaf nearly 10 months into a 5-year contract position.
Sharaf's mother, Senator Leila Sharaf, submitted her resignation from the Upper House of Parliament earlier on Tuesday, citing that she will not serve in a "corrupted state," and fiercely criticized the handling of her son's removal.
