AMMONNEWS - An investigatory committee headed by Dr Abu Hadib has been formed by the Health Minister, 'Abdul Latif al-Warikat, to look into suspected cases of corruption connected to the Jordanian Medical Council.
One of the Council's employees discovered that the director of one of the sections was buying and selling Jordanian Medical Board questions from last February's course. The buying and selling of questions began two years ago.
According to an informed source, financial and administrative violations had been revealed since vehicles belonging to the council had been used for personal purposes.
Sources within the investigatory committee who preferred to remain unnamed also indicated that the committee had listened to 60 employee's accounts on the first day.
Ammon learnt that that investigatory committee which convened its first sitting on Sunday was investigating the violations which included awarding financial rewards to a number of the employees on the basis of personal relations tying them to the department directors.
A source in the Minister of Health confirmed that al-Warikat had stressed that the committee should exercise professionalism and precision in investigating the Council.
Board Examinations were due to take place at the precise time of the investigatory committee's meeting but were cancelled by the Minister. al-Warikat noted that he had assigned a specialist committee to draw up new questions in secrecy with different models such as the British Board system in order to preserve the reputation of the Jordanian Board.
