AMMONNEWS - Employees of Jordan Radio and Television Corporation demonstrated on Thursday in protest of what they considered a "method of favoritism, ouster and elimination" adopted by successive JRTC administrations in dealing with employees.
The employees blasted JRTC's "haphazard" method of legislating bylaws and work regulations, and called for annulling contracts of producers and anchors hired from outside Jordan Television.
In their protest in front of the Local News building, the protestors demanded JRTC to promise not to appoint higher positions from outside the company, and to be more transparent in hiring standards.
The employees suspended the protest in the afternoon, after JRTC Director Adnan Zoubi promised to meet with them and discuss their demands.
The employees decided to form a 'dialogue committee' to represent their demands with JRTC, stressing meanwhile that they will resort to more protests next week if their demands are not met.
The employees formed a preparatory committee to coordinate efforts for a general strike if the management does not meet their demands.
The protest coincides with JTV's 43rd anniversary, with employees blasting JRTC's successive managements of "shaking" job security of employees, which is counterproductive to the advancement of JTV's broadcasting, according to their expression.
