AMMONNEWS - Hundreds of protestors poured to the streets of the northern city of Irbid following Friday prayers to protest government policies and calling on the government to step down.

Protestors took part in two separate demonstrations in the northern governorate, one launching from Al Hashemi Mosque and the other from Irbid's Grand Mosque, raising Jordanian flags and banners of the National Movement for Change "Jayeen," a coalition of activists from nationalist, Islamists, leftists, and opposition currents in addition at activists including teachers, retired military officers, and unionists.

Protestors chanted slogans against Prime Minister Samir Rifai, and directly targeted Government Spokesperson Ayman Safadi, describing him as a "minister of crises."

Slogans bore themes of corruption, exploitation of national resources, and political and economic abuse.

Meanwhile, another demonstration was witnessed in the northern governorate of Ajloun, organized by the Islamic Action Front (IAF), Jordan's largest opposition political party.

The demonstration launched in Kufranja from Al Sahel Mosque and marched towards the downtown area.

Protestors there shared demands of calling for political and economic reforms, calling on the government to step down, and resolve soaring prices and excessive taxation.
