Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - 51.16 percent of students who took the comprehensive "shamel" exam for the 2010 winter session for community colleges passed the exam, Dr. Ikhleif Tarawneh, President of Al Balqa Applied University (BAU) said.
In a press conference at the University on Tuesday, Tarawneh said that 3,938 students took the exam this week, from 47 community and university colleges throughout the kingdom and 78 fields of study.
A total of 1,961 students passed the exam, a rate of 51.16 percent.
The 'Shamel' exam began on Saturday December 4th, and ended on Wednesday December 8th. The results were announced after review and auditing of all exam papers by the Evaluation and Examination Unit, Tarawneh said.
Tarawneh added that the highest grade achieved in the exam was 88.5 percent.
688 students earned a grade of 68 percent and over, a rate of 17.47 % of students, allowing them to 'bridge' their education into four year universities.
