Ammon News - AMMAN— Jordan's largest opposition party alleges fraud and vote buying took place in last week's parliamentary elections that saw supporters of King Abdullah II win a majority of seats.
The Islamic Action Front claimed in a statement Sunday that a large number of voters cast ballots outside their electoral districts, while others voted twice with two different national identity numbers.
It also alleged that vote buying took place outside polling stations in some districts. It claimed handouts ranged from $240 to $1,414 per voter.
It did not provide further details on the allegations.
The group, which is the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, boycotted the Nov. 9 poll to protest a new law reducing seats for lawmakers in urban areas, where it has influence.
