Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's Islamic Centrist Party (Al Wasat Al Islami) is conducting serious internal debates in pondering dissolution of the political party, informed sources said.

Head of the Political Unit and member of the Political Executive Office in the Party, Marwan Faouri, confirmed the reports.

He told Ammon News over the phone on Thursday that the party's leadership will carryout several consultations and debates in the upcoming days to consider dissolving the party and quitting political party work.

Faouri said that the decision comes in protest of the parliamentary election results vis-à-vis the Islamic Centrist party, and the recent practices carried out in the parliamentary election process.

He stressed that the party is "un-satisfied" with the political atmosphere, which distances political parties from being active partners in the political life. "There is apparent frustration in the political life and the final election results," he added.

He noted that there are strong pressures for the dissolution of the party, considering that political party work is no longer fruitful.

"Those who decided to boycott the elections were right."

He added that those who decided to run counter to the Islamists' boycott decision were "punished twice, once by canceling their membership in the Muslim Brotherhood, and another by their loss in the elections."

Faouri alluded that the party observed violations in the elections, "things were not as the government promised, especially in some governorates."
