Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - (Exclusive) - An e-mail message sent to the personal e-mail address of the Chief of the Public Security Directorate led to the arrest of two employees at a gas station in Amman charged with manipulating gas prices.
A number of e-mails were sent to PSD Director Major General Hussein Hazza' Majali's personal e-mail address revealing that two employees are ripping off gas station customers as they fill their vehicles with gasoline.
Major General Majali ordered a criminal investigation unit to follow up on the case of the gas station in an upper class west Amman district where employees target drivers of luxury cars by charging them extra.
On Tuesday, a number of criminal investigation undercover officers headed to the gas station in a luxury vehicle.
The employee asked the driver to move forward further at the gas pump so that he would be distant from the gas price meter.
The criminal investigation officers were 'ripped off' 20 extra JDs.
Two employees were arrested in the scheme that also befell many other drivers.
An investigation was launched. It is yet unclear if the gas station owner or manager were aware of the scheme.
