Ammon News - AMMAN- Gendarmerie Director Major General Tawfiq Tawalbeh on Monday discussed prospects for closer cooperation with UN Secretary General Special Representative Ellen Margaret.

The meeting touched on peacekeeping missions and Jordanian participation under the UN umbrella.

The UN official hailed the Jordanian peacekeeping personnel's discipline and professionalism they in duty, noting their humanitarian role to help victims in war-torn and disaster-stricken nations across the world.

The Gendarmerie deploys observers and peacekeeping teams to Sudan, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Haiti and Timor.
