Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Education decided to cancel all decisions made earlier this summer to refer 45 teachers to early retirement or job position relocation.
An official source told 'Al Arab Al Yawm" newspaper that Minister of Education Dr. Khaled Al Karaki on Sunday asked to meet urgently with five members of the National Committee for the Revival of the Teachers' Professional Association to inform them of the government's decision to cancel former Minister of Education Dr. Ibrahim Badran's decision to refer the teachers to early retirement and relocate others to school districts distant from where they live.
The source added that Dr. Al Karaki tasked the Committee with informing the 45 teachers to report to their education districts and submit requests to return to the schools where they worked before the previous decision was made, Al Arab Al Yawm reported, adding that the decision to return to their jobs will be in effect before the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
The earlier decision taken by former Minister of Education Ibrahim Badran affected 38 teachers who led campaigns of demonstrations and strikes by teachers protesting government policies towards teachers and statements made by Badran that were deemed "offensive" to teachers.
28 other teachers included in the earlier decision had taken part in the strikes, and 15 others were relocated to school districts in governorates that are distant from their areas of residency, a decision that many teachers and activists considered as an arbitrary decision against them.
