AMMONNEWS - Rakan Qadah - Upon the announcement of the Tawjihi (General Secondary School Certificate Examination) results on Saturday morning, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) dealt with two suicide attempts in Salt and Irbid governorates, and 6 injuries caused by random festive gunfire in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Balqaa governorates, PSD Spokesperson Lt. Colonel Muhammad Khatib, told 'Ammon News.'
In the details, a 7-year old child was hit by a stray bullet in the chest in the northern town of Taybeh in Irbid during a family celebrating their son's passing the Tawjihi exam. The child was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Five others were also injured by stray bullets fired in the air in expressions of joy in Amman, all of them listen in fair condition, Khatib added.
An 18-year old student in Salt city consumed poisonous material in an attempted suicide following the announcement of the examination results. He was rushed to the state-run Salt Hospital, and is in stable condition, Khatib said.
In a separate incident, another Tawjihi student jumped out of the balcony of her family apartment on the third floor of a residential building. She suffered fractured bones and bruises and was taken to the hospital. She remains in stable condition.
Lt. Colonel Khatib added that PSD personnel registered 337 reckless driving violations on Saturday as students went on celebratory motorcade processions, 283 of them were issued in the capital Amman. The cost of each ticket is JD 30.
Other reckless driving violations were also registered, including 4 car skidding tickets issued to drivers costing JD 100 each in addition to withdrawing their driving licenses.
