Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The 'Youth Loyal to the Nation and King' movement on Thursday decided to postpone their planned rally that was supposed to be held downtown Amman at the same time as a mass demonstration called for by Islamists and pro-reform movements on Friday.
A statement released by the movement stated that their decision came in response to requests to postpone their rally in an effort to avoid any confrontations or clashes with the pro-reform demonstration.
"We decided to postpone our rally in response to requests from ex-Prime Minister Faisal Fayez, PSD Chief General Hussein Majali, lawmakers, tribe elders," Jihad Al Sheikh, who heads the Loyalist Youth Assembly said in statements to Ammon News.
"We will not be the first spark that many weak hearted and agenda-driver people wait for to drag the country to chaos," he added.
Meanwhile, some groups within the loyalist movement rejected the decision to postpone, and insisted on gathering in downtown Amman.
Spokesperson of the Northern Loyalist group told Ammon News on Thursday that the rally will take place on midday on Friday, "whoever does not want to participate doesn't have to, but we will not back down from holding the rally and young men have already began descending on Nakhil Square."
The movement decided early this week to mobilize thousands of citizens from all governorates and transport them via buses to Amman Thursday night to camp out at downtown's al-Nakhil Square.
