Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A total of 66 youth, tribal, and popular reformist movements announced that they will participate in the mega pro-reform protest organized by Jordan's Islamist Movement slated to be held on Friday, October 5, 2012.
In a meeting held at the Jordanian Professional Association's Complex Monday, the movements signed on a statement issued by the organizers calling on citizens to take part in the protest that will launch from Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman on October 5th.
The participants agreed on the fundamental demands of pro-reform movements, including combating corruption, and rejecting the amended electoral law, which they perceive as falling short of meeting citizen's political reform demands.
The movements all agreed to only raise Jordanian flags and banners for reform, and stressed on movements and political parties not to raise their own flags, in a of solidarity towards the nation.
Meanwhile, the National Front for Reform, a coalition of 7 opposition movement, said that it will not participate in the mega-protest called for by the Muslim Brotherhood under the banner of "Rescuing the Nation."
The Muslim brotherhood had sought the participation of the NFR, but got a negative response. The Islamists decided to delay the protest from September 28th to October 5, 2012, in a mega-demonstration Islamists say will witness over 50,000 participants.
