Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Exclusive - Jordanian columnist Rana Sabbagh stressed on Friday that media outlets "exaggerated" reports that she was threatened by Prime Minister Samir Rifai over the phone on the backof an article she wrote in Al-Arab Al-Yawm Daily.
Sabbagh had written an article in the newspaper the criticized government policies, and had disclosed earlier that she received a phone call from Prime Minister Rifai telling her that "If you weren’t dear to me, I would have referred you to court."
Local Media outlets had reported that the PM had threatened to refer her to the State Security Court (SSC) because of her article.
Sabbagh told 'Ammon News' that what took place "was not a threat," as was reported in media outlets, but rather the Prime Minister had said that he "would have referred her to court," without specifying which court.
She denied that the Prime Minister had made such a comment on the State Security Court.
When asked on Thursday on Twitter whether the reports that Sabbagh was threatened by him, Rifai replied: "A total unfortunate fabrication!"
