Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A female student consumed 20 tranquilizer pills on Saturday after her 'shock' at her grades in the Tawjihi General Secondary School Certification Exam, a security source who did not wish to disclose his name told Al Ghad daily newspaper.
Emergency doctors treated the girl (age 17-18) and she remained under medical supervision, Dr. Saad Kharabsheh, head of Al Hussein state-run Hospital said.
Dr. Kharabsheh indicated that the girl remains in moderate condition, and had to remain under medical supervision because the affects of the medications she consumed do not appear until 24 hours later.
''We were not able to pump her stomache,'' Kharabsheh added, because she was brought to the hospital five hours after she had consumed the pills. By that time, the pills had already been digested, he added.
Dr. Kharabsheh added that the hospital received four cases on Saturday, ranging from increase in blood pressure and depression, after the Tawjihi results were announced.
The patients were discharged from the Salt hospital after receiving medical treatment.
