Queen Rania honors winners of "Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education"

Ammon News - AMMAN Celebrating Jordan's best educators this year, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah on Tuesday honored the winners of the "Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education" (QRAEE), in its 5th annual ceremony held at the Cultural Palace in Al Hussein Sports City.

Queen Rania handed out trophies and certificates to 22 winners. 20 of whom had previously applied for the award but didn't win, and reapplied in consecutive years after they persevered and improved upon their performance.

Her Majesty then met with the winners and thanked them for their efforts. She also relayed His Majesty's commitment to improving conditions for teachers. The ceremony, attended by Dr. Khalid Karaki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, a number of Ministers, members and volunteers of the Teacher's association, as well as previous recipients of the teacher's and principal's awards, also highlighted the association's work and the main impacts the award had on teachers, such as recognition, motivation, and the dissemination of the culture of excellence.

In her remarks, Award Director Lubna Touqan congratulated the winners and described them as the award's new ambassadors in the field of education. She also expressed her pride in the association's accomplishments throughout the past 5 years.

This year's winners, picked out of 93 nominees who were chosen from amongst 1,859 applications received by the association, will receive monetary awards in the value of JD 3,000 for first place, JD 1,500 for second place, and JD 1,000 for third place.

Launched in 2005 by Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the award aims to promote quality education through raising the standards, morale, and pride of teachers.
