Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Thursday, said that Jordan is at the forefront of those regional and international countries which are fighting terrorism and countering extremism, because it believes in the Islamic values that represent moderation and acceptance of others.

In a speech on behalf of the Jordanian delegation, participating in the first meeting of countries of the international coalition against terrorist organizations, held at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) headquarters in Brussels, Judeh said, "The war against terrorist organizations and extremist ideology is our war." He pointed to what His Majesty King Abdullah II has reiterated in his Speech from the Throne that opened parliament's second ordinary session last November, citing it to say, "We must defend ourselves, Islam, the values of tolerance and moderation, and counter extremism and terrorism." Judeh added that whoever supports this extremist ideology or is trying to justify it, is the enemy of Islam, the nation and all the noble human values.

The foreign minister stressed, "Jordan firmly and strongly confronts anyone who is trying to threaten our social fabric and undermine the Arab fabric that helped build the history and the present of the region." He said that Jordan has spared no effort to employ its powers and potentials to address the dangers of extremism and terrorism, particularly through initiatives that aim to promote dialogue between religions, sects and different civilizations and explain the true concepts of Islam and its noble and great message, including the Amman Message, a Common Word initiative, the World Interfaith Harmony Week and many conferences in this regard.

A Jordanian diplomatic and military delegation participated in the meeting after Judeh couldn't make it there due to a technical snag in the plane he was supposed to take from Washington to Brussels.

Judeh will consequently remain in Washington and continue his participation in the official delegation that accompanied His Majesty the King to the United States.
