New 21-member Cabinet Sworn in

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A Royal Decree was issued on Thursday approving the formation of a new government headed by Prime Minister Abdullah Nsour, to succeed the government of ex-PM Fayez Tarawneh, which resigned on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister and cabinet were sworn-in before King Abdullah II at Raghadan Palace in the Royal Hashemite Court on Thursday evening.

The new government consists of 20 ministers, in addition to Prime Minister Nsour.

Several ministers from the previous government remained in their positions, including Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Minister of Finance Suleiman al-Hafeth, and Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Samih Maaytah. The Ministry of Culture was merged with the Ministry of Media Affairs.

Minister Nofan Ajarmah also remained in the ministerial team, but was appointed as Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs, replacing his position as Minister of Political Development.

Two former ministers were removed from the new formation, including Minister of Education Fayez Saoudi and Minister of Communications Atef al-Tal.

The 30-member cabinet team was appointed as follows:

1) Prime Minister and Minister of Defense: Abdullah Nsour
2) Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister: Awad Khleifat
3) Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs: Abdul Salam Abbadi
4) Minister of Finance: Suleiman Al Hafeth
5) Minister of Foreign Affairs: Nasser Judeh
6) Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Information Technology and Communications: Hatem Halawani
7) Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Minister of Transport: Alaa Batayneh
8) Minister of Justice: Ghalib al-Zoubi
9) Minister of Planning and International Cooperation : Jafaar Hassan
10) Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research: Wajih Oweis
11) Minister of Public Works and Housing: Yahia Kasabi
12) Minister of Social Development : Wajih Azayzeh
13) Minister of Health: Abdul Latif Wreikat
14) Minister of Public Sector Development: Khleif Al Khawaldeh
15) Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Minister of Environment: Nayef Hmeidi Al Fayez
16) Minister of Agriculture: Ahmad Aal Khattab
17) Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister of Water and Irrigation: Maher Abul Samin
18) State Minister for Prime Ministry Affairs: Nofan Ajarmeh
19) State Minister for Media Affairs and Minister of Culture: Samih Maaytah
20) Minister of Political Development and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs: Bassam Hadadin
21) Minister of Labour: Nidal Qatamin


A Royal Decree was also issued on Wednesday accepting the resignation of former Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh.
King Abdullah on Thursday met with former Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh and his ministerial team, and commended their work, considering Tarawneh's government among the best in accomplishing its tasks.
