175 countries supported the resolution passed by the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly for creating a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
The resolution called on all relevant parties to carefully assess and promptly take action to adhere to the resolution for a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East as per General Assembly resolutions.
In order to support this objective, the resolution urged the countries involved to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
